Donor's Choose AGAIN!
Thank you to our families who donated to our most recent project. We had another project funded this week, which consisted of more choice play activities (Magnatiles, Geostix, and a giant classroom timer).
Thank you to all families who joined me for conferences! We had 100% attendance!! These meetings are crucial for student growth, success, and parent-teacher relationships. It was so nice to sit down and chat with everyone! Please let me know if there are any other questions or concerns.
We just received our latest Donor's Choose grants! Through the generous donations of Burley families and strangers, we have received about 20 new, hardcover books that relate to student's social emotional skills, about 50 new books to add to our leveled library, and some new building materials for our choice play (magnets, foam blocks, tiles, etc.). Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who have helped us make our room that much better!
Our first field trip was a success! We cannot wait to take our next one this winter. Stay tuned!
Now that we have officially become "readers," we are ready to put our Super Powers to work. In this unit, students will work on using picture support to read unknown words, point to the words as they read, and use initial sounds in words to help them decode new words. They will begin taking books home on their individual reading levels and have their own personal book bins in the classroom. These will be used to practice their new powers every day during Reading Workshop.
